New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Tuxford is near Newark in Nottinghamshire and is on the former line between Ollerton and High Marnham power station.
In July Network Rail opened the Rail Vehicle Development Centre or RVDC which, along with the renewed line, will be used to carry out development work as well as acceptance trials on new equipment is introduced to the network. Tuxford is the current eastern end of the line, although track continues further east. The line is joined to the national network at the western end.
Railway type and traffic
The primary use for the line is for commisioning and testing of On Track Plant by Network rail. So expcect a lot of yellow vehicles.

Environment
The line from Tuxford to High Marnham is about 4 miles and may be used in the future as tracks are still down. It runs along side the Tuxford - high Marnham road , the line crosses over the top of the road where the line now has been capped.
Road directions
Tuxford is on the A1 in Notts, leave the A1 from the North or South and follow signs for Lincoln. But, just as you reach the rail bridge for the ECML turn right where the signs say High Marnham 4 miles, go past the school and over the ECML, follow that road where the line runs down along side of you until the line goes over the top. There are several brdges to view the line.
