New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
Brocklesby is about 4 miles east of Barnetby in North Lincolnshire at the point where the mainly passenger route to Grimsby and Cleethorpes splits from the mainly frieght route to Immingham Docks.
Railway type and traffic
There is a regular passenger service over the line from Cleethorpes to Scunthorpe and Doncaster and onwards to Sheffield and Manchester, also a more infrequent service to Lincoln. The line is notable by having an intensive freight service from Immingham Docks to many locations throughout Britain.
Environment
Brocklesby station closed over 10 years ago though the station buildings are still intact and in good condition.
There is a signalbox on one of the Platforms. The station is several miles from the village it used to serve and is set in the middle of fields.
Road directions
At the end of the M180 (junction 5 for Barnetby) continue straight on onto the A180. At the next junction after 4/5 miles turn onto the A160, then first left onto the A1077. You will drive across Ulceby station level crossing then turn left onto the B1211 which will take you over Brocklesby station bridge.

Photographic notes
The light here is best in early morning for trains heading towards Immingham/Cleethorpes. Dinnertime onwards, you can get shots of westbound trains passing through the old station but by mid-afternoon the sun will be on the platform-side of these trains.
There is a not too obvious public footpath crossing the field to the north of the line towards Ulceby and you can get photos of freight trains rounding the curve from the second field. A step-ladder may help here as the field is slightly lower than the railway.
