New Mobile Site
We have just launched a new mobile version of this site - m.trainspots. This page will use your smart device's GPS to loctate you and guide you to locations that are close to your present location.
Location notes
A small station on the Perivale/Greenford West London Line.
Railway type and traffic
A quiet 'Branch' type line, with passenger services operated by First Great Western Link 165s. The Greenford loop is also frequently used to turn stock from Old Oak Common, ECS HSTs and Adelantes.
Freight wise expect 59/1s, 59/2s, 60s, 66/0s, 66/6s, 67s, 165s.
Environment
A few open fields, north and south of the station, with a fair number of houses in the area breaking up the fields. The A40 is by the entrance/exit. Travel in groups after dark, as there sometimes are some dodgy characters about!
Road directions
From the A40 West:
Turn off at 'Perivale' sign, turn left at Traffic lights and continue over road bridge past next set of lights. Turn right onto Stockdove Way where the 'Perivale Athletics track/Golf Course' sign is. At the next set of lights you come to which is a crossroad, just past the Bus stop is the station.

From the East:
Bear off the A40 when you see the concrete footbridge, and Shell garage with 'Perivale' sign , continue past the BP garage, and turn left at the traffic Lights on to Argyle Road, then turn right at the next set of traffic lights onto Stockdove way.

South Greenford map co-ordinates
Parking
Stockdove way leads to Haymill Close, an Estate, during normal commuting days, it is quiet, but when it is school holidays a fair number of kids are seen playing around, but however parking is open, and is free, although leaving the car during school holidays might not be recommended.
Public transport
First Great Western Link, operate services to and from Greenford, from Paddington at 28 and 58 minutes past the hour from 6am - 10pm off of Paddington. Alternatively, the Central Line runs to Greenford Station, and the First Great Western Link can be alighted from there to South Greenford.
Bus Wise, 297 operates from the Bus stop on Argyle Road, which is at the top of Stockdove way. which is every 8-10 minutes on weekdays, this operates from Willesden - Ealing Broadway, also the E5 operates from Southall, although the 297 is quicker.

Amenities
Sadly there are no toilets, but there is Medway Village, which has a pizza shop, and a local newsagent, further up the road. About 20 minutes away is Tesco's Hoover Building, in Bideford Avenue.
Accommodation
Bridge Hotel, is to the West of South Greenford Station, located by the roundabout, by the flyover.

Photographic notes
Light is usually good during day time, Platform 2 offers some nice pictures, coming northbound, and Platform 1 for southbound. There are no obtrusive buildings in the way, and everything is open making the station great for uncluttered pictures. Trains can be shot in either direction, but this will mean going down the long ramp and going under the railway bridge and back up.
